Day 28

Well, very exciting the plus .2 minus .2 blues didn't have a repeat performance. I lost 1.6lbs which brings me to the 8lb mark..of course the fiance is up to 16lbs with no exercise, but I digress.. I'm moving in the right direction anyway..
As for wedding news, We met with the DJ who I liked the most after interviewing 3 by phone. He was very professional and appeared to be on the ball. I'm not sure what happened in between then and our face to face meeting but he is no longer on the ball, in fact the ball rolled away.... He showed up late, called me by the wrong name, didn't bring the references I had asked him to bring, but did bring a contract listing the wrong services and my correct name incorrectly spelled... Not trying to nit-pick but I do want the DJ to be on time to my wedding as well as correctly announce our names as we enter the hall..call me fussy.. We have an appointment to meet with someone else next week..fingers crossed!!

Day 21

Well, it's been an annoying week at best..
First, the diet I am on has you weighing yourself several times in the beginning, so as I followed it's schedule I began to get increasingly annoyed..on Day 11 it showed that I actually gained .2lbs...what the $#@!..I'm exercising everyday, having shakes for breakfast and lunch and salads for dinner..what do you mean I gained anything?! OK..deep breaths I'll just wait and see for next weigh in ...Day 15 shows I've lost .4lbs...seriously?!....POINT 4...not even a half of a pound?!?!! Did I mention that the salad dressing is low fat and that Bob Hogan ("The Biggest Loser" fame and star of my exercise DVD) is having me do a work out titled BOOT CAMP...and all I get is .4 OK..
My fiance on the other hand has not begun any type of exercise routine, has had BEER, and lost 11 lbs.

SON OF A....

OK, deep breaths, I'm happy for him....really

Seriously, I am happy for him we're not just trying to look good for the wedding we want to get back in shape and be healthier..so good for him!!

I on the other hand am beginning to wonder...did I piss off the diet gods by being sarcastic about the 5.8lbs??? now they must taunt me with the back and forth gain .2 lose .4????

Apparently so, because today, day 21, shows that I have gained the .4 back... I'm about to go postal...

My fiance believes that my metabolism has shut down because I've shocked my body.. oh and he then went on about how muscle weighs more than fat..yada yada yada..What's that you're eating...PEANUT BUTTER!?!...SON OF A...

Fine, I've begun to have small snacks at 10am and 3pm to get my metabolism going..we'll see if this works..if there are no results next week I'm going to need to look for a new diet..

As far as the wedding itself, we've made some progress. We booked the reception site, it's on very pretty grounds that was an old farm and their food is very good. I've also hired a photographer, I really liked her work and it isn't all staged, stiff photos. She does journalistic and cameos as well. She and her husband seemed very nice, in fact yesterday I had a package delivered which had a card from them thanking us for our business and saying how they are looking forward to our wedding, how sweet! It also had a gift box which I opened to find gourmet fudge brownies...really, diet gods...this vendetta..it must end...

Day 7

Today was weigh in and I've lost 5.8lbs, good thing I bought the fancy scale that breaks it down for you; I wouldn't want to get cocky and claim I've lost an entire 6lbs.
Today's challenge revolved around dinner. I am presently going to school for my MAT and taking night classes. My current schedule includes a class on Wednesday from 4:00to 6:00pm, which is fine; I can wait until 6:00 to eat...really
However, tonight we had a workshop to attend after class which ran until 8pm; this would be a challenge. The professor was kind enough to let us take a short break before starting the workshop so I ran to the Cafe to grab a quick bite. The beauty of this is that I attend Johnson & Wales University, which has a culinary school on the same campus as the MAT program, so the menu is not your typical school cafeteria grub. I ordered a grilled chicken salad with red pepper vinaigrette dressing...mmm that will hit the spot! However, I was only able to have a few bites before I needed to head back to the workshop, so I took the salad with me, figuring I could eat it at home.
Midway through the class two culinary students arrived at the door announcing they had extra food from their class (this of course never happened prior to Operation Thin Bride) the class broke out in cheers and the professor opened the box and moaned "ooh, cinnamon buns"...I think she then said something about apple turnovers but I can't be certain as a loud buzzing noise had begun ringing in my ears..
A free box of cinnamon buns from culinary students...really?!?! Oh, how the diet Gods mock me..Sadists!! Hit me with your best shot!! You will not see me waiver..Victory is mine!! Now excuse me while I take a few bites of my salad..
Not wanting to sit through class chopping on a salad, I again placed the lid over my salad after only a few bites and planned on finishing it when I got home. The lid wouldn't fasten very well, but it would be fine.. so long as I didn't need to suddenly stop short on the drive home..
I arrived home with the salad in tact..all was well, I met temptation head-on and won this battle, now all there was left to do was enjoy my victory over a salad..
As I opened the front door to my house, my loving dog Osito was especially happy to see me return home and decided to do something he never normally does..jump up at me
I watched in horror as the salad I had been waiting 2 hours to eat dropped to the ground, cherry tomatoes rolled into the bushes as a pool formed and dripped red pepper vinaigrette down my front steps and into the snow...I swear it could have been cinematic genius!!..Alas, I don't own a video camera, and I'm not artistic..just hungry, very very hungry
I was left with no choice but to heat up a can of soup and call it a day.. 268 days until the wedding

Day 5

Here's my story, sad but true..

I've been guilty of overindulging for some time now, and had made plans awhile ago to do something about it. I decided sometime ago that I would not only start a diet for the New Year but I would also quit smoking, not too much to ask..right? So maybe it was; I have successfully quit smoking (It was 3 years this New Year's Day) but I also successfully managed to add some more potatoes to an already overstuffed sack.

This Christmas my boyfriend and I made our engagement official, I have the ring and we've set the date for October 2, 2009. I then realized I needed to do something to ensure I wouldn't frighten small children or draw comparisons to the giant Staypuff marshmallow man of Ghostbuster's fame as I walked down the aisle...

So I have launched operation thin bride; make no mistake about it, it will be a campaign of shock and awe, victory is the only acceptable outcome!!!
